Dallas Cowboys Schedule – This Could Be the Year for the Cowboys
The problem and blessing of being the Dallas Cowboys is the tendency for spectacular highs and lows, as they carry around fanfare and national media attention no matter how their seasons unfold. This year, the Cowboys enter the regular season as a team almost under the radar for the first time in years, and Tony Romo and the ‘Boys have a Dallas Cowboys schedule full of grueling matchups for them to prove their worth. Here’s a look at some of the highlights.
Week 4, Lions at Cowboys:
The Lions have largely been the whipping boy of the league for the last decade, but those days appear to be over. If they can keep young quarterback Mathew Stafford healthy, this Lions squad can be an exciting team that can make some real noise in the NFC. The Cowboys will have their hands full trying to run on reigning Defensive Rookie of the Year Ndamukong Suh, the defensive tackle already considered an elite defensive player in his second season. If the Cowboys want to get to the playoffs and ultimately the Super Bowl, they’ll have to be able to beat up-and-coming teams like the Lions.
Week 6, Cowboys at Patriots:
Coming off a bye, the Cowboys should be relatively healthy and rested as they travel to New England, a place that not many teams have been able to win in recent years. The Cowboys would love to beat at least one of the two top teams in the AFC East this year and this will be their last opportunity after a heartbreaking opening week loss to the Jets.
Week 7, Rams at Cowboys:
Like the Lions, the Rams used to be a team that everyone wants to play, though that has changed quite a bit with talented young quarterback Sam Bradford taking the reins of the franchise. Suddenly, buying NFL tickets to see the Rams in action seems like a good idea.
Week 8: Cowboys at Eagles:
Many picked the Eagles and Cowboys to be the top two teams in the NFC East, making this a great showdown and a chance for the Cowboys to prove they’re a real contender.
Week 15, Cowboys at Bucs:
With the Lions, the Rams and the Bucs on the schedule, the Cowboys will have to play all three of the young and talented NFC teams looking to take the next step in 2011. With the games getting more important as we get closer to the finish line, this should be a must-win for both teams, and a real test for the Cowboys on the road.
Week 16, Eagles at Cowboys:
This has the potential to be the game that decides the division. Not only do the Cowboys have a great rivalry with the Eagles, Philly also has an electric group of playmakers led by Michael Vick that will really test the Cowboys’ ability to shut down an explosive offense. This one could turn out to be a real shootout with two great quarterbacks and the division on the line.
Week 17, Cowboys at Giants:
No matter how the division looks when these two square off on New Year’s Day, neither side wants to lose to a big divisional rival to close out the regular season.
